Let us tell you, Nirmala Sitharaman had said in Lok Sabha on Wednesday that the rising prices of onions have not affected her personally, because her family does not like things like onion-garlic.

Sitharaman had said, “I don’t eat too much onion-garlic … so don’t worry. I come from a family that does not care much about onions. ”Since the minister’s statement, people on social media had strongly opposed it. In this episode, Kumar Vishwas has also tweeted this in sarcasm.

Apart from Kumar Vishwas, many people did not like this thing on Twitter, one user shared two photos and wrote, “PIC 1- Don’t talk about onion prices because the finance minister does not eat onions .. . PIC 2- Yes, Smriti Irani eats onions but when the Congress government is in power… what about those people who eat onions during the BJP government?

Here Congress MPs today demonstrated in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Parliament House premises against the rising prices of onions in which Gaurav Gogoi, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, Kumari Selja, K Suresh, Karthi Chidambaram etc. participated besides P. Chidambaram. Congress MPs had posters in their hands, which read, “Onion kill on inflation, stop Modi government”. They were also demanding to take steps to reduce the price of onions. Congress MPs also brought a basket of onions with them.

Actually, during that time Nirmala Sitharaman stood in the Lok Sabha to answer the question of NCP MP Supriya Sule. Supriya asked questions on the rate of growing onions. As soon as Nirmala Sitharaman stood up to answer this, an opposition MP asked her ‘Do you eat onions?’ Responding to this, Sitharaman said, ‘No, I don’t eat much garlic onion. I come from a family where these two things are not used much. ‘

Later on Nirmala’s statement, politics started. 106 days later, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, who came out of jail, also surrounded Nirmala. Demonstrating the rising prices of onions outside Parliament, Chidambaram said that the government which is advising people to eat less onion and garlic should go away. This government gave a bad condition to the economy. He further asked that if Nirmala Sitharaman does not eat onion then what does she eat? Does she eat avocado (a fruit found in Mexico)?

Explain that in response to the discussion in the Lok Sabha, the Finance Minister had said, “There are some structural issues related to onion storage and the government is taking steps to deal with it.” He said that the area under cultivation has come down There has been a decline in production but the government is taking steps to encourage production.

Sitharaman said that the price stability fund is being used to control onion prices. In this regard, a buffer stock of 57 thousand MT has been made. Apart from this, onions are also being imported from Egypt and Turkey.

On the increased prices of onions in the Lok Sabha, NCP MP Supriya Sule asked the question, “Why did onion yield come down?” Why should we eat Indian Egyptian onion? The onion farmer is a very small farmer, he needs to be saved.

After this, Nirmala stood on her seat to answer Supriya Sule’s question. Then an MP questioned Nirmala – you eat Egypt’s onion?

Nirmala said, “Since 2014 I have been a part of the groups of ministers who see the decline and increase in the prices of onion. Many times when the crops of the farmers are bad, then we also help the exporting farmers. I have ordered overnight help. There are many structural issues in the case of onions. One of these is the fact that we do not have modern warehouses scientifically. ”

Nirmala said, “Gadkari went to Bhabha Automatic Research Center to find out whether the onion can be saved for a long time with the help of radiation? We need modern storage and we are working on it. Radiation is not dangerous for food items. This year is also a hit of the weather. Because of this, the effect has been seen on the onion yield.

Nirmala may have said a lot about the onion in the Lok Sabha. But only a portion of his statement is being shared on social media.
